Knee Pain Affects More Than the Knee.
When knee pain makes it harder to walk, work, sleep, care for family or participate in everyday life, its impact can extend far beyond one person.
Pain Relief International believes pain relief is more than comfort. Reducing pain can remove a barrier to mobility, independence and participation — helping people get back to the activities and people that matter to them.
One Painful Knee Can Change an Entire Day.
Knee pain can affect much more than movement. It can influence a person's ability to work, care for others, remain independent and participate in family and community life.
Mobility
Walking, standing, climbing stairs, driving and other ordinary activities can become more difficult when the knee hurts.
Work
Chronic knee pain has been associated with missed work and reduced productivity while people are on the job.
Family
When everyday activities become difficult, spouses, children, relatives or friends may take on transportation, household or caregiving responsibilities.
Participation
Pain and reduced mobility can limit involvement in work, recreation, family activities and community life.
Pain Rarely Affects Just One Person.
When pain prevents someone from participating, other people often help carry the load. Reducing that barrier may create possibilities that extend beyond the person experiencing the pain.
Greater opportunity for movement, independence and everyday activity.
Potentially less assistance needed with mobility and everyday responsibilities.
Greater opportunity to remain active and participate productively.
More opportunity for people to participate, contribute and remain connected.
A Different Approach to Pain Relief
The PRI 4×4 Deployment Unit uses NeuroCuple® technology — a passive, nonpowered approach to pain relief built around a patented array of capacitive junctions.
The technology is designed to interact through non-invasive capacitive coupling with the local bioelectrical environment associated with pain perception.
NeuroCuple does not deliver powered electrical stimulation into the body. It requires no batteries, charging, wires or medication, and it does not require direct skin contact.
Position the unit over the area where pain is being experienced. The device can be repositioned as needed and may be used over clothing or dressings.
Randomized Clinical Research in Total Knee Replacement
NeuroCuple technology has been evaluated in randomized clinical research involving postoperative pain following total knee arthroplasty.
2026 Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Trial
A randomized, placebo-controlled study of 156 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty compared an active nanotechnology-based device with a sham device as part of postoperative care.
The investigators reported significant associations with reductions in immediate postoperative opioid use, postoperative nausea and vomiting, rescue antiemetic use and hospital length of stay. They also noted that larger multicenter prospective studies are needed to confirm and scale the findings.

This clinical study evaluated postoperative use following total knee arthroplasty. Results from this population should not be interpreted as proof of effectiveness for every cause of knee pain.
Experience It Yourself. Help Bring Relief to Others.
The PRI 4Ă—4 Deployment Unit gives you an opportunity to experience the same durable, reusable, drug-free technology used by Pain Relief International in its humanitarian work.
Keep it available when pain becomes a barrier. The unit requires no batteries, charging or consumables and can be repositioned when needed.
You receive your own reusable PRI 4Ă—4 Deployment Unit. 100% of proceeds from device purchases fund Pain Relief International deployments to help expand access to pain relief.
Please note: purchasing a device is not a tax-deductible donation.
When Pain Is Reduced, the Possibilities Can Spread Outward.
Around the world, pain can become a barrier to work, education, caregiving, independence and participation — especially where access to pain treatment is limited.
Pain Relief International works to expand access to practical, reusable, drug-free pain relief in homes and communities. You can experience the technology yourself, make a charitable contribution, or do both.

Knee Pain Relief Without Medication
What are some drug-free approaches to knee pain relief?
Drug-free approaches depend on the cause of the knee pain and may include appropriate activity or exercise, physical therapy, rehabilitation strategies and nonpowered pain-relief technologies. Persistent, severe or unexplained knee pain should be evaluated by an appropriate healthcare professional.
What is NeuroCuple®?
NeuroCuple is a passive, nonpowered pain-relief technology built around an array of capacitive junctions designed to interact through non-invasive capacitive coupling with the local bioelectrical environment associated with pain perception. It requires no drugs, batteries, charging or wires.
Does NeuroCuple require direct skin contact?
No. The PRI 4Ă—4 Deployment Unit can be positioned over the area of pain and may be used over clothing or dressings.
Has NeuroCuple been studied in knee patients?
Yes. NeuroCuple technology has been evaluated in randomized clinical research involving patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty. A 2026 randomized, placebo-controlled study included 156 knee replacement patients. Those findings relate specifically to the studied postoperative population and should not be interpreted as proof of effectiveness for every cause of knee pain.
Does the PRI 4Ă—4 use batteries or electricity?
The device is passive and nonpowered. It requires no batteries, charging or wires and does not deliver powered electrical stimulation into the body.
Can the PRI 4Ă—4 be reused?
Yes. The PRI 4Ă—4 Deployment Unit is reusable and designed to be kept available and repositioned when needed.
How much does the PRI 4Ă—4 Deployment Unit cost?
The PRI 4Ă—4 Deployment Unit is $80. You receive your own reusable unit, and 100% of proceeds from device purchases fund Pain Relief International deployments. Purchasing the device is not a tax-deductible donation.
